The Urinary System

Parts

The urinary system is made up of five main pars; the kidneys, the urethra, the sphincter muscles, the bladder, and the ureters.

kidneys are purplish brown organs below the ribs, toward the center of the back. They remove waste from the blood in the form of urine. They stablize the balance of salts and other chemicals in the blood.

The urethra is the tube in which urine is excreted.

The sphincter muscles are the muscles that control the flow of urine from the bladder.

The bladder is a hollow, muscular, elastic-like organ that collects urine that the kidneys excrete, before it is disposed by urination. Urine enters the bladder through the ureters and exits through the urethra.

The ureters are muscular ducts that help send urine from the kidneys to the bladder.
